BREAKING: Kovacic, Vazquez injured

Both players will be out a while.

Lucas Vazquez and Mateo Kovacic will be out of Real Madrid's lineups for a while after the club officially confirmed their injuries. Vazquez picked up a calf injury during the FIFA Club World Cup while Kovacic has a serious ankle injury, according to the club's reports.

Following the tests carried out on Lucas Vázquez in the Sanitas la Moraleja University Hospital, the player has been diagnosed with a grade 2 injury to his right soleus muscle, an injury he picked up at the Club World Cup. His recovery will continue to be assessed.

Following the tests carried out on Mateo Kovacic in the Sanitas la Moraleja University Hospital, the player has been diagnosed with a sprain to the anterior tibioperoneal ligament in his left ankle, an injury he picked up at the Club World Cup. His recovery will continue to be assessed.

Zidane will have to do without these two players and with Gareth Bale injured as well, it seems that Marco Asensio, Isco and James Rodriguez will be fighting for the spot on Real's right wing.
