2016 was something. What started disastrously ended euphorically for Real Madrid, and somehow the team is still peaking. It’s hard to pinpoint just how Real Madrid are pulling off what they’re doing without a matching confirmation from the eye test to justify the results, but what Zinedine Zidane has done up till now is changing the game completely - he’s looking ten years ahead, and has tabs on Castilla (as well as the players on loan) just as much as he’s rehearsed himself with the A-team.
It’s hard to fathom now, less than a year after his appointment, just where this Club (as a whole, both on and off the pitch, both current and with long-term considerations) what Real Madrid would look like without him.
I hopped onto our Facebook page today to do one last mailbag for 2016 to talk about Zidane and everything else. Unlucky for you, I’m back from my brief hiatus, and hope you all enjoyed the calm before a flurry of content as we head into a jam-packed 2017.
