Martin Ødegaard is about to be sent on a loan deal to Stade Rennais and he was seen on the stands during their match against Saint-Etienne today.

Ødegaard could not sign a loan deal with any French club as he was under 18 years old, a problem which will be solved this month, when he will celebrate his 18th birthday.

Most reporters already expected Ødegaard to leave Real Madrid on a loan deal this summer, but he ended up staying in the Spanish capital for the first half of the season with Castilla. He's training with the first team quite often, but it's clear that the Norwegian sensation needs first-team minutes to keep growing as a player, something he will get in Stade Rennais, an average club in France.

All things considered, this appears to be a good move for Ødegaard, who is still an intriguing prospect for Madrid two years after signing for the club.
