Mayoral deserves a chance in Real Madrid's senior team

This hasn't been an easy season for the youngster, but he's still a very interesting prospect.

Real Madrid's wonder kid Borja Mayoral is not experiencing an easy season after his performances last year. The striker has been in and out of the starting XI and battling for the starting spot with Mariano Díaz. As a result, Mayoral has "only" scored 11 goals in 23 matches played for Real Madrid Castilla, numbers that don't reflect his true potential.

However, he's been performing up to standards in the UEFA Youth League. He's played in 5 games and scored 7 goals so far, being arguably the leader of a team hoping to raise the title this year. Yesterday, Mayoral scored an impressive goal against Manchester City in Real's surprising 3-1 win in the Youth League.

Considering Benzema is the only striker in this roster, Mayoral definitely deserves a chance to be the backup for the French. It's clear that it might be too soon for Mayoral to play an important part in Real Madrid's future, but Los Blancos have probably lost the Liga title already being 9 points behind Barcelona and Zidane will have to make rotations in this competition sooner rather than later while his team keeps advancing in the Champions League.

Whenever Benzema needs a rest in a meaningless Liga BBVA game, Mayoral deserves at least a chance to show what he's capable of with elite players surrounding him.
