Cristiano Ronaldo shared his views after Real Madrid's 0-1 loss to Atlético de Madrid this Saturday. The Portuguese striker was quoted saying the following:
"If my teammates were on my level maybe we would be leading the Liga table. I don't want to underrate my own teammates, but it's hard to win when the best players are not there. I like to play with Bale, Karim, Marcelo, Pepe... I am not saying that Jesé, Kovacic or Lucas are not good, they are good, but..."
Ronaldo then spoke to MARCA and clarified his comments.
"When I say that, I am talking about my fitness level, not my level as a player. I am no better than any of my teammates,"
Even if Ronaldo meant what he said in his apology, it's a strange comment to make after such a woeful loss. the players injured are supposedly doing their best to recover as soon as possible and mentioning Jesé, Kovacic and Vázquez was uncalled for.
