There was significant worry amongst Madrid supporters when Cristiano Ronaldo walked off the pitch in the Villarreal game. After pulling back from a bicycle kick attempt, Cristiano Ronaldo immediately clutched his thigh and looked to be in significant discomfort. But Ronaldo seemed to allay suspicions after the game with an Instagram post, saying:

But an official medical report from Real Madrid's website confirms that there is in fact a real problem.

Following tests carried out today on Cristiano Ronaldo in the Sanitas La Moraleja University Hospital, he has been diagnosed with a muscle strain in his right thigh. His recovery will continue to be assessed.

This shouldn't come as much of a surprise to Los Blancos supporters. Regardless of what he said afterwards, Ronaldo wouldn't have walked off the pitch immediately had there been no problem. As we have learned because of the 2014 World Cup, Ronaldo will say anything and do anything to make sure he gets to play as much as possible. While this desire is truly admirable, maybe he should listen to his doctors on this one.
