Real Madrid is a club for all, no matter from which part of the world you come from. However, there are some, like our brothers and sisters in a mere rock café in Samarra, Iraq (125 miles north of Baghdad), that support our club at the risk of their lives. In a disgusting mis-portrayal of Islam, Daesh rejected football as "un-Islamic" and chose to senselessly kill 16 people whilst wounding 20 others. According to the president of the supporters club, Ziad Subhan:
"A group of Islamic terrorists, from ISIS, came into the café, armed with AK-47s, shooting at random at everyone who was inside."
According to El Confidencial:
"The association values of Real Madrid has also condemned "the barbaric and senseless horror" caused by the attack and called for this weekend one minute silence to be observed at all stages."
According to AS:
"At the time of the attack around 50 Real Madrid supporters were in the club. The members meet there for coffee and to watch old Real Madrid games when there isn't live football on."
La Liga president Javier Tebas has also condemned the terrorist attack with this tweet:
Consternado por el atentado contra una peña del @RealMadrid en Irak. El terrorismo ataca al fútbol. Estamos con las víctimas y sus familias.
— Javier Tebas Medrano (@Tebasjavier) May 13, 2016
The club is yet to release a statement.
All members of the Managing Madrid team stand against this attack of terror and condemn this act of violence fully.
We will update you further as the situation develops.
