There have been concerns hovering around Varane's fitness, and today, an official report from the Club dealt a hammer blow to the Frenchman's chances of being fit come May 28th.
Per RealMadrid.com:
MEDICAL REPORT | 22/05/2016
After tests carried out today on the player Raphaël Varane he has been diagnosed with a grade 2 injury in the left thigh muscle. His recovery will continue to be assessed.
Per Club sources, Varane has a 1% chance of recovering in time for the match against Atletico - underwhelming odds. From Real Madrid's perspective, the impact of Varane's absence is somewhat softened thanks to Pepe's incredible run of form to the end the season. It's not an ideal situation, to be sure, for Real Madrid to go into the Champions League Final without Varane to act as an understudy though, which points to Nacho as the next man up in the pecking order.
