Raphaël Varane is considering a move away from Real Madrid to play more minutes after what was an inconsistent season for him being benched in favor of Pepe and Sergio Ramos. According to Marca, Manchester United are interested in the defender and Varane is considering a move.
Raphaël Varane has not had the kind of development analysts would expect from one of Europe's most promising defenders. In fact, some could say that he was a better player three years ago and that he has regressed, something that is clearly unnatural given his age.
Real Madrid will have a serious problem in a couple of seasons as Pepe and Ramos are entering the last stage of their careers. Pepe's contract expires in 2017 and if Varane doesn't step up his game Madrid will need to find a reliable center-back to play alongside Ramos, who is also 30 years old. Los Blancos signed Jesús Vallejo last season but he has spent most of the year injured for Zaragoza and has not developed as much as Los Blancos hoped.
