Luka Modric's Croatia and Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal probably did not expect to be in this position before the tournament. While Modric and his teammates were not supposed to win their group against Spain, most analysts predicted that Portugal would also be good enough to finish in the top spot of their own group, but Cristiano Ronaldo and his teammates have not been performing the way they should have.
Modric did not feature against Spain and there are some concerns about his fitness for this match, but given how important the match is, the little midfielder will be back in the starting XI.
Portugal, on the other hand, have to improve their defense. They had been lacking firepower during the first two matches of the tournament and when Cristiano Ronaldo found his rhythm and scored twice, Pepe and his defensive partners conceded three times, making Portugal's task of winning their group a fairly difficult one.
