Danilo will have surgery on his injured right ankle next Thursday, after having postponed it ever since he started to feel discomfort on his foot.
The defender wanted to play through pain as Madrid's other right-back Dani Carvajal was also having physical problems, but now surgery is necessary in order to begin next season completely ready to go.
The Brazilian visited doctor Nicolaas Van Dijk last February and they decided that he could keep playing until the off-season.
Van Dijk has some experience with Real after treating former striker Ruud Van Nistelrooy in 2008 and Cristiano Ronaldo a year later. He could also be in charge of Keylor Navas' surgery this summer.
Danilo has experienced a tough debut season with Real Madrid after signing for €35 million but he will surely be looking forward to improving his performances and become a relevant player even with Dani Carvajal as the starter in Zidane's plans right now.
