Real Madrid has announced that goalkeeper Keylor Navas will have surgery on his injured Achilles that kept him from participating in the Copa America Centenario. Apparently this is an injury that has been with him since the World Cup. It wasn't until the May 8th match against Valencia where he re-aggravated the injury.
On Monday morning he was diagnosed with "chronic Achilles tendinopathy"
Here is the official statement from the club's website.
"After the tests carried out today on Keylor Navas in Amsterdam, the doctor Niek van Dijk, under the supervision of the Real Madrid Sanitas medical services, has taken the decision to carry out a minimally invasive endoscopy on the left heel.
"The operation will take place on June 9 in Madrid, performed by doctors Van Dijk, Pedro Luis Ripoll and Mariano de Prado, under the supervision of the Real Madrid Sanitas medical services."
It's expected that he'll be ready to go when Real Madrid start pre-season on July 15th.
