The Euro 2016 final is just hours away. Portugal will try to right the wrongs of 2004. When people talk about this side the conversation usually starts with the words Cristiano Ronaldo. People sometimes overlook the heart and soul of the Portugal defense: Pepe.

"I’m all good, today I trained and I’m at the boss’ disposal for the final on Sunday, the most important match of my life," Pepe said.

"Tomorrow it will be a brilliant game and I hope we can bring Portugal joy, as it means so much to me to play a final for my country.

"There will be 11 million behind our 11 on the pitch and then the three substitutes too, we want to make history for Portuguese football."

This is a man who had a solid year in the center of the Real Madrid defense. He’s lifted two Champions League trophies, the Copa Del Rey and now wants to add to that the title of European champions.

He believes that everyone is ready to give the host team of France a run for their money.

"The boss is positive, intelligent and makes us aware of what we are capable of and how far we can go.

"I’ve been in the Portugal team since 2007, I always try to do the best for my team and be at my best.

"I hope to be able to help my side by playing and it would be nice to score."

It would be nice to see him score with a header off a set piece. He and Ronaldo are both very effective in the air. Here's to Pepe and Portugal, France isn't going to be a push over.
