Marco Asensio will sign a contract extension with Real Madrid until the summer of 2022. It's not clear whether the midfielder will be with the first team next season or not, but Los Blancos showed faith in his potential and decided to give him that new deal, according to AS.

Asensio spent last season on loan with Espanyol and provided some impressive performances. His role with Real Madrid would not be a very relevant one next season, so it would be good for his development to play more minutes elsewhere unless Zidane says otherwise.

The Spanish playmaker can either play on the left wing but also as a central-midfielder in a 4-3-3. He's a very creative player who still lacks a bit of goalscoring ability, although he is still 20 years old and has plenty of room for improvement. For the moment, Asensio will complete the pre-season with the rest of Madrid's first-team, just like last summer.
