Barcelona have signed Portuguese midfielder André Gomes, according to both Mundo Deportivo and Sport. Gomes was a priority for Real Madrid, per MARCA and AS. Barcelona would pay around €40 million and the player will sign a five-year deal if this report is confirmed.
If this becomes official, Madrid would have lost another transfer target this summer after finally refusing to make a formal bid for Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba.
While Gomes would have been a controversial signing for Madrid considering that it would be very hard for him to make the starting XI regularly, the lack of moves showed by Florentino Pérez and the board might hurt the team down the road if they finally decide not to make any signings this year.
Apparently, Real Madrid want to sign a midfielder this summer, although there are not many players on the market who can improve what Los Blancos have on the roster right now.
