Champions League 2016 draw results: Tough but manageable group for Real Madrid

The results are in.

Real Madrid were drawn into Group F of the 2016/2017 Champions League Group Stage alongside Borussia Dortmund, Sporting Portugal and Legia Warsaw.

Los Blancos will be defending the title after conquering their 11th Champions League trophy last season. Stats say that they should not be capable of retain the title this year, as no team has won two consecutive editions of the Champions League ever since the tournament was created back in the 90s.

Borussia Dortmund will be a very tough opponent for Real Madrid. It's tough to play in Germany and Dortmund have improved over the last couple of seasons. It's true that the German side have lost two very key players in Mats Hummels and Ilkay Gündogan, but Thomas Tuchel is a great manager and Zinedine Zidane will be forced to use his best men available.

Cristiano Ronaldo will also make his return to Sporting Lisbon, his first club as a pro. He's a legend there and will surely receive a warm welcome.

Real Madrid will be heavy favourites against Sporting Portugal and Legia, so this might be a decent group for Los Blancos.
