Real Madrid will play their first home game of this Liga Santander season against a Celta Vigo side that collected a very disappointing loss at Balaídos on their opening game against Leganés last week. Celta will surely be hoping to bounce back and even though the Bernabéu is surely one of the toughest venues to win away in La Liga, the Galician side have the quality to make things difficult for Los Blancos.
Zinedine Zidane confirmed that Isco Alarcón will miss the match with an ankle injury. The French coach could trust a more attacking midfield now that Modric is back with the squad, and if he sits Casemiro, Kroos could play deep with Modric and James alongside him, replicating the three-man midfield Carlo Ancelotti liked to play during his second year in the Spanish capital.
Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo are also out, meaning that both Marco Asensio and Álvaro Morata will almost certainly start with Gareth Bale upfront.
Real Madrid Projected XI: Casilla, Carvajal, Pepe, Ramos, Marcelo, Kroos, Modric, James, Asensio, Bale, Morata.
Celta Vigo Projected XI: Álvarez, Mallo, Roncaglia, Gómez Solà, Jonny, Wass, Sisto, Díaz, Bongonda, Aspas, Orellana.
