Real Madrid will be without the Welshman for at least one match.

On Wednesday night Madridistas held their collective breath as Gareth Bale was taken out of Real Madrid’s Champions League match against Sporting Lisbon with what looked like to be a hip injury. The cameras would point to the bench, where Bale sat wincing in pain holding an ice pack to his hip.

Bale underwent tests on Thursday morning at Valdebebas which lead Zinedine Zidane to leave him out of the squad for their upcoming trip to Barcelona to take on Espanyol on the weekend. It doesn’t help that Los Blancos also have a mid-week match against Villarreal, which means he could be questionable for that one as well.

Look for either James or Lucas Vasquez to fill in for the injured Bale. Both players made appearances in that late victory over Sporting Lisbon. Hip injuries can be a tricky thing, and we’ll all have to hold our breath waiting to find out just how serious this injury is.

Los Blancos are looking to continue their run of good form in La Liga. With Gareth Bale being out, once again the BBC is down a member.
