According to a new report from AS, Lucas Silva is in the city of Madrid, awaiting a series of cardiac tests that will determine the state of his professional career. The player is apparently still on ‘the Real Madrid books,’ but is currently not allowed train with the team.
As was well documented at the time, Lucas’ heart problems were detected on July 9th, when the player was carrying out a medical which would’ve confirmed his loan move to Sporting de Portugal. But a preliminary test found a ‘cardiac anomaly’ (which was confirmed by a second test according to this report) that cancelled the loan and put Lucas Silva’s future in the balance.
This unfortunate turn of events brings to light the ruthlessness of chance and the way that it plays havoc with once promising careers. Bought in the winter transfer window of the 2014/15 season for 14 million euros, Lucas Silva is now the forgotten man that may never have a chance to play football again.
