Rumors this summer indicated that Chelsea were after Alvaro Morata, and the Spanish attacker himself confirmed that the club offered €70 million to sign him away from Real Madrid.

"Chelsea showed the most interest, Conte had already signed me for Juventus, it was a big offer, I would've been the most expensive Spanish player ever. They offered €70 million but then Real Madrid told me that I was going to be relevant, and that has always been my dream," said Morata in an interview with Sport Bild.

The striker also says that Robert Lewandowski is the best center-striker in the world because of his "skills and his height."

Morata has been a reserve ever since Benzema came back from his hip injury, but he scored the crucial game-winning goal against Sporting Portugal a week ago and could make the starting lineup against Villarreal today. He will turn 24 years old in October.
