Toni Kroos decided to wish his followes a happy new year by tweeting out a joke about Germany's 1-7 win against Brazil in the 2014 FIFA World Cup, a match which clearly stunned every Brazilian around the world.

Marcelo took offense some minutes later and wished his followers a happy new year asking for respect.

Marcelo did not mention Toni Kroos, but it's clear that he was not happy with the tweet of his teammate.

While Kroos was only making an innocent joke about a match played two and a half years ago, Marcelo decided to defend the pride of his country now that he is a regular for the Brazilian national team and it's hard to blame him for that.

Kroos shouldn't have made that joke and Marcelo should have kept matters private. In the end, the midfielder apologized. Sort of.
