Not many fans expected Madrid to cruise past Sevilla 3-0 last week after coach Zinedine Zidane decided to give Cristiano Ronaldo some more rest and keep him out of the game. However, Los Blancos pulled off an impressive performance throughout the entire first half and completely dominated a Sevilla side who had been very solid ever since the season started.
This time, knowing that Sunday's La Liga match against Jorge Sampaoli's team will probably be even more difficult than this one, coach Zidane has once again given both Cristiano Ronaldo and Luka Modric some rest, hoping that Madrid's reserves will get the job done.
Lucas Vazquez, Sergio Ramos and Mateo Kovacic are back with the team after missing the previous two games with injuries they picked up during the past FIFA Club World Cup. With Modric out, Zidane will most likely be forced to play Kovacic in the midfield alongside Kroos and Casemiro. Morata, Asensio and Vazquez could be playing upfront as both Isco and James will miss the match.
