Real Madrid must have felt mortal again in a long time as their highly impressive 40 match unbeaten run came to an end at the hands of Sevilla.
The Whites will welcome Celta Vigo in the Santiago Bernabeu in the first leg of the quarter finals in the King’s Cup. Madrid will want to put the loss they endured in Seville behind them and look for a positive result.
Real Madrid are obviously the better team on paper and on the pitch. But, Zidane’s men will have to be cautious and not take the Celts lightly.
Speaking of streaks, Celta Vigo can boast of a streak of their own; i.e a winning streak of five matches in all competitions. Real Madrid will be committed to win this tie after having their streak broken and losing three important points to Sevilla.
It will be interesting to see how Zidane’s men approach the match after the 3-5-2 formation failed to achieve the desired result in Seville. Real Madrid will attempt to score big and prematurely end the bout, leaving Celta Vigo no chance of mounting a comeback in the second leg.
Manager Zinedine Zidane has included Cristiano Ronaldo in the squad for the first time in a Copa del Rey match this season. Zidane obviously respects Celta Vigo and has prioritized qualifying for the semi final of the Copa del Rey.
Returning from injury for Real Madrid is Isco, whose offensive prowess was missed in the midfield by the Whites in their La Liga loss against Sevilla.
On the other hand; Carvajal has been rested for this tie. Bale, Pepe, James and Coentrao remain unavailable due to their respective injuries.
