Real Madrid have released an official statement confirming that Lucas Silva will be loaned to Brazilian club Cruzeiro.
Real Madrid C. F. and Cruzeiro Esporte Clube have reached an agreement for the player Lucas Silva to be loaned to the Brazilian club until 30 June 2018.
Considering Lucas’ debilitating injuries and paltry minutes for Real Madrid, one has to wonder why Madrid didn’t just sell him. But when you consider the fact that few clubs would’ve been willing to risk a fee and a permanent transfer on a player who hasn’t played for ages due to a previously assumed career-ending illness, you can only come to the conclusion that this was a good deal.
Hopefully Lucas Silva can resurrect enough of his form to command a decent transfer fee in 2018, or better yet, play well enough to possibly sneak his way into Real Madrid’s competitive squad.
God knows Lucas deserves either of the two, as few players have had the run of misfortune that he has.
