Florentino Perez explains why Real Madrid didn’t sign Mbappe

Was it a mistake?

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez spoke to El Español and explained why Los Blancos did not complete the signing of Kylian Mbappe, who ended up joining Paris Saint-Germain instead.

“We thought about signing him but we have a fairly complete team. He’s very young and he has many years ahead of him so I think he made the right decision by joining his hometown club. It wasn’t easy for us to fit him on our team because even though he’s a great talent he’s still very young and might need to play more often like he’s doing with PSG,” says Perez, suggesting that Mbappe would not be a starter for Real Madrid.

Perez also mentioned Marco Asensio and said that the Spanish wonder kid has a very good chance of becoming a star like Mbappe. In the end, the French attacker joined PSG even though most reports from Spain indicated that a deal with Madrid was eventually going to happen.
