Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos was given a rare opportunity to start for the club and he showed he deserves to be an important role player even this season with his performance.
Ceballos completed 64 passes with a 92.2% accuracy in the midfield. He played with composure and distributed the ball trying to control the tempo of the game, which he did. He also showed that he can work defensively and helped Casemiro quite often. Furthermore, it’s clear that he has some nice chemistry with Isco and Marco Asensio, something which should have the fans fairly excited about what the future holds for the club as those three men will almost surely be starting for Madrid a few years from now.
It won’t be easy for Zidane to determine Ceballos’ role once Mateo Kovacic recovers from his injury and it won’t be easy for the French coach to find minutes for both players either. However, Ceballos could be a nice player to have on the bench whenever Real Madrid need some more creativity in a similar role to the one Isco was having before he became a starter for the team.
Expect Zidane to give Ceballos more playing time over the next few weeks as the Spanish midfielder can definitely be trusted.
