Real Madrid won’t drive their own team bus to Girona this weekend as the club wants to avoid any kind of confrontation with the home fans because of the political situation between Catalonia and the Spanish government, according to reports from Spain. The team bus features the club’s crest and apparently Real Madrid want to be cautious on Sunday.

It’d be too much to assume that the political situation could make Girona fans violent towards Real Madrid and their own team bus so this is a shocking report. Sources within the club told MARCA that this is not unusual and the team does the exact same thing every single time they play at the Camp Nou against Barcelona just as a security measure.

Los Blancos visit Girona on Sunday trying to gain some momentum ahead of the crucial match against Tottenham next Wednesday. Madrid are still five points behind Barcelona in the table and just one point behind Valencia. Their start to the 2017-2018 La Liga season has been quite mediocre and now Los Blancos need to wait for Barcelona to drop points while they try to take care of business week in and week out.
