Update: Ramos and Ronaldo will not play against Fuenlabrada

Sergio Ramos and Cristiano Ronaldo will not face Fuenlabrada in the first leg of Real Madrid’s Copa del Rey tie, according to reports from Spain. Both players didn’t train with their teammates this Wednesday and will rest on Thursday in order to have fresher legs against Girona and Tottenham.

Coach Zinedine Zidane will almost certainly start most of his reserves against Fuenlabrada. Players like Kiko Casilla, Achraf, Nacho, Jesus Vallejo, Llorente, Ceballos or Mayoral will be on the field trying to prove they can be trusted whenever a starter isn’t available.

Still, the young players will need to be careful and play with intensity if they want to avoid a similar scare to the one Los Blancos suffered against Alcorcon back in 2009. That time, Real’s reserves lost 4-0 and couldn’t manage to overcome that deficit in the second leg at the Bernabeu. It will be interesting to see who else uses this game to rest.
