Chelsea attacker Alvaro Morata has shared his thoughts about his departure from Real Madrid and he regrets joining Los Blancos for his second tenure after spending two years with Juventus.
“We had some contract agreements we had to respect. I was extremely disappointed as I came back to square one. I was treated like the kid I was before my two seasons in Italy, I should have never rejoined Real Madrid,” said Morata in an interview with Gazzetta Dello Sport.
The attacker signed for Chelsea this past summer after spending most of the 2016-17 season being Karim Benzema’s backup. His contribution to Madrid was noteworthy as he provided some crucial goals off the bench which allowed Los Blancos to earn key wins. Still, it’s clear that Morata’s words about his lifelong club might be too harsh. While he earned the respect of the fans by wanting to be a regular starter elsewhere, it’s not clear whether those same fans will accept what he said to Gazzetta about the club, especially after conquering a historic La Liga-Champions League double.
