UEFA appointed Turkish referee Cüneyt Çakir as the man in charge of the match between Tottenham and Real Madrid —Wednesday at Wembley—.
Per Realmadrid.com.
The Turkish referee Cüneyt Çakir will take charge of the match between Tottenham and Real Madrid at Wembley on Wednesday in the match day four meeting of the Group Stage of the Champions League (8:45pm CET).
It will be the eighth time he has refereed the Whites in this competition. Çakir refereed two Real Madrid matches last season, on the way to la Duodécima: Round of 16 in Naples (1-3) and the second leg of the semi-finals against Atletico Madrid at Calderon (2-1). In the 2015/16 campaign, he oversaw Malmö-Real Madrid (0-2) in the Group Stage and in the first leg of the semi-final between Manchester City and Real Madrid (0-0). He was also in charge of the 2012/13 Group Stage between Real Madrid and Dortmund at the Bernabéu (2-2) and in the second leg of the Round of 16 game in Manchester against United (1-2). In 2011/12, he was the referee of Real Madrid-Lyon (4-0) in the Group Stage.
Real Madrid will need a good result here to bounce back from their very discouraging loss to Girona this Sunday.
