Tottenham attacker Harry Kane shocked the world of football when he refused to rule out a potential move to the Spanish league in the future. While it’s true that Real Madrid weren’t mentioned specifically, some fans got hyped about the possibility of signing the striker and even some reports suggested that Los Blancos could be targeting Kane in the near future. Should Real Madrid go after him?

PROS

Harry Kane is still 24 years old and yet he’s playing like he already reached his prime. He’s scored 11 goals over 9 matches played this season and it’s clear that his firepower could be used in Madrid, who are missing a pure attacking threat whenever Cristiano Ronaldo isn’t available.

Kane can also finish crosses and Real Madrid tend to play that way quite often, meaning that he would fit right in in the team’s current playing style.

CONS

Kane has always played British football and La Liga is very different from the Premier League in terms of pace and spacing. Kane has good technique on the ball and yet some could wonder if he would struggle in Spain because he would have less room to operate.

Karim Benzema has just signed a contract extension with the club and it’s clear that Real Madrid would not make such an expensive move for Kane unless he was going to be the starter, so his role would not be clear from the get go.

Furthermore, negotiating with Tottenham can be quite problematic as Florentino Perez saw two consecutive summers when the club signed Luka Modric and Gareth Bale away from the London-based club. The Premier League is rich now and Tottenham would not sell Kane for less than €100 million.

VERDICT

Real Madrid could use a pure goalscorer like Kane and he is a quality player, no doubt about that. However, this move is not likely to happen and Los Blancos should look elsewhere if they need goals off the bench.
