Real Madrid visit Tottenham and they desperately need to bounce back from the disappointing results they’ve got lately. Here are three keys to a Madrid win against the London-based squad.

  1. Motivation? Marcelo suggested that the squad is more motivated in the Champions League when asked about why the team is struggling in La Liga. While it’s clear that the Champions League is a more important trophy, it still shocks me that a paid professional makes mention of motivation as if they needed something extra to perform. Needless to say, it seems that they will need to be motivated against Tottenham if they want to win.
  2. Dangerous flanks. Real Madrid are missing Carvajal and the Spanish defender didn’t begin the season playing well to begin with. Marcelo is also going through a dip in form since he recovered from his injury and Real Madrid are paying the price. They will need more from their wing backs if they want the three points.
  3. Stop crossing the ball that often. Pochettino will be happy if Madrid keep crossing the ball every time they reach the final third. Tottenham have powerful central defenders and Karim Benzema isn’t a threat there. Real Madrid should take advantage of their brilliant midfield in order to create dangerous chances.
