Real Madrid travel to take on APOEL in matchday five of the Champions League. Los Blancos are coming off a 0-0 draw with Atletico Madrid over the weekend, in what was about the most exciting scoreless draw that you may ever see.
The bottom line is that Real Madrid need to take care of business in Cyprus. In order to have a shot at grabbing the top spot in the group they have to hope that Tottenham drop points against both Borussia Dortmund and APOEL in their last two Champions League games.
Real have only won two of their last five games in all competitions, a dominate win off the back of a good performance at Atletico would be good. Having Dani Caravajal back in the lineup did Real wonders. He was excellent against Atletico and having solidity back with Caravajal will serve Real well.
The midfield really showed up against Atletico, and Casemiro and Modric were both keys in that fixture. Against APOEL Real should be able to dominate the midfield, and with it offensive production should come where it didn’t against Atletico.
Real beat APOEL 3-0 in their first matchup, and this shouldn’t be much different. They’re more than capable of dominating the midfield and converting it to many goal scoring opportunities.
Predicted Starting XI
APOEL predicted XI: Waterman, Milanov, Rueda, Carlao, Lago, Vinicius, Morais, Ebecilio, Oar, Alonefitis, Camargo.
