Contrary to what the Daily Mail are reporting today, Real Madrid are not interested in signing Tottenham coach Mauricio Pochettino in the near future, according to Josep Pedrerol. Florentino Perez wants Zinedine Zidane to stay for a very long time, per that same report.

Either way, neither Daily Mail nor Pedrerol have been reliable lately, so common sense indicates that neither Zidane will be staying for many years if the team can’t perform nor the club is looking forward to signing a new coach as soon as next summer.

Pochettino could indeed be a good candidate for the spot if Zidane suddenly feels like he can’t get the job done. Again, it’s clear that there’s no way Real Madrid sack Zidane any time soon —and they shouldn’t—, but if the French coach is the one leaving Florentino Perez could try to sign Pochettino away from Tottenham.

Real Madrid take on Las Palmas this Sunday and will be expected to bounce back from their two straight losses.
