Three takeaways from Real Madrid’s 3-0 win against Las Palmas

Real Madrid managed to beat Las Palmas fair and square and yet failed to complete a good overall performance. Los Blancos will need a win when they visit Atletico’s Wanda Metropolitano in two weeks time and they’ll need much more from Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo.

  1. Real’s strikers are very low on confidence. While Benzema has never been a pure scorer, he simply has to convert the chance he missed early in the game. Cristiano Ronaldo played good football overall and assisted Isco on Madrid’s third goal. However, it’s clear that one goal in seven La Liga games played this season is not enough and Real Madrid will need the Portuguese star to pick it up.
  2. Vallejo played very well. The young defender wasn’t a bright spot on his debut against Fuenlabrada but he definitely completed a good performance last night. Achraf and Varane were not available so Nacho had to play on the right side of the defensive line. Zidane trusted Vallejo and the young man delivered. He now needs to stay healthy.
  3. Asensio’s goal was something else and a true candidate for the Puskas Goal of the Year award. Just watch.
