According to Spanish outlet AS, former Real Madrid legend Pepe has taken aim at Real Madrid’s Santiago Bernabeu fans. When speaking about the differences between the fans in his current club Besiktas and the fans in his former club, Pepe had this to say:

Besiktas fans are very passionate and when I am on the field, I am always taken back by the noise from the stands.

Real Madrid fans might be mad at me for what I will say, but people say they transmit enthusiasm to the team but I don't think they do. That's not the reality.

When asked a rather pointed and clickbaity question on whether he was sad to leave Real Madrid or not, Pepe replied assertively with:

What sadness? I have made it clear that my time at Real Madrid has finished, this is a new stage in my career. I picked Besiktas to continue being happy playing football. Real Madrid is part of my past, I was happy there, the same as at Porto and Marítimo.

While Pepe’s brutal honesty has rubbed some fans the wrong way ever since he left Madrid, there is little factually wrong with what he is saying here.
