Real Madrid still trust in their current coach Zinedine Zidane even after their mediocre performances this season, according to a report from MARCA. On the other hand, striker Karim Benzema will have to prove his worth if he doesn’t want to lose his starting spot to either Gareth Bale or Marco Asensio, per that same report.

Benzema has been criticized for his poor scoring numbers and the fans at the Bernabeu are questioning his presence on the team’s starting lineup. Still, Zidane has said multiple times that Benzema is his striker and that he is not worried about his numbers because of his overall contributions to the team.

Other player blamed for Madrid’s struggles is Marcelo, if that same report is accurate. The Brazilian defender hasn’t been working all that hard and his offensive impact in the game isn’t as great as it was last season.

It will be interesting to see if Zidane decides to make some changes when the second half of the season kicks off a week from now.
