Real Madrid lost their chance of cutting Barcelona’s lead down to six points after drawing against a mediocre Athletic Bilbao side this Saturday. Still, president Florentino Perez has Zidane’s back and won’t push the panic button yet.
“We have a great team to keep dreaming and also a wonderful coach who’s one of our greatest icons, he’s the best leader for this team. Ronaldo is also one of our icons and the greatest goalscorer in the history of our club, he’s going to win his fifth Ballon D’Or shortly,” said Perez.
While it’s clear that the current squad deserves credit after last season’s success, they also must turn things around as soon as possible.
“You are witnessing history in a 12-time European champion. We achieved what seemed impossible, winning three Champions League titles in four years and also back-to-back European titles. Last season was the most successful in club history but we want to improve and grow even more,” added Perez.
