Five players are on Real Madrid’s shortlist to upgrade the squad next summer, according to a report published today on AS. While it’s clear that some other candidates could emerge as potential signings for the club, it definitely seems like Los Blancos will set their eyes on at least one of these five stars.
- Harry Kane. Signing the striker wouldn’t be cheap at all as Tottenham are a very tough team to negotiate with. Remember that both Modric and Bale completed their moves to Madrid after a long summer of rumors and offers. Kane’s contract expires in 2022.
- Eden Hazard. His father says that he won’t sign an extension any time soon because he wants to be available next summer if Real Madrid come calling. He would take minutes away from Marco Asensio, though, so his fit wouldn’t be as great as if he could play the main striker position.
- Neymar. Los Blancos would need to trigger the €222 million release clause on Neymar’s contract with PSG but apparently the Brazilian star would be keen on wearing the white shirt. His move to PSG could’ve been a way to get him out of Barcelona, according to reports from Spain.
- Robert Lewandowski. He’s always wanted to play for Madrid and it seems that Los Blancos are not interested anymore. However, he would be a nice upgrade to the striker position and Bayern’s unfinished business with Madrid for James Rodriguez could actually help Lewandowski’s case.
- Mauro Icardi. Apparently, Icardi’s agent is trying to get the striker a better contract by using Madrid’s reported interest. While he has talent and potential to improve, it’s not clear whether he would actually be a galactico or not.
