It’s now official.

Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo has won the 2017 Ballon D’Or in the ceremony celebrated today in Paris. This is his fifth Ballon D’Or and he is now even with Lionel Messi as the two players with the most individual awards in the history of football.

Ronaldo also won FIFA’s The Best after a successful 2016-2017 campaign in which Real Madrid conquered a historic La Liga-Champions League double with the Portuguese attacker being the undisputed leader on the pitch.

Cristiano Ronaldo definitely deserves this award after what he accomplished last season. Still, he will have to improve his current performances and scoring numbers quite a lot if he wants to add another Ballon D’Or and The Best award by this time next year. Los Blancos and Ronaldo himself have been struggling quite a lot but they still have time to turn things around and win the trophies that would allow the Portuguese star to conquer the individual accolades he wants.
