Real Madrid have published a medical report on French defender Raphael Varane, who had to leave Wednesday's match against Valencia with a hamstring injury which now has been confirmed.
Following tests carried out today on Raphaël Varane at the Sanitas La Moraleja University Hospital, he has been diagnosed with a grade 2 muscle strain in his left hamstring. His recovery will continue to be assessed.
As usual, Real Madrid have decided not to disclose how long Varane will need to recover. However, this is a significant injury and the defender will most likely miss at least one month.
Varane completed a woeful performance against Valencia before he got hurt. Now, Pepe will be the one replacing him in the lineup when healthy, although Nacho Fernandez could also play alongside Ramos when needed. The defender still has to prove he's good enough to be Real's undisputed starter in the center of the defensive line when Pepe leaves the club this next summer.
