Our German cyborg on international break helped an uncharacteristically sloppy side squeak past an English team that should have put the match away several times.
As usual, Tony Kroos led the team in passing, and passing completion. But in spite of his standard performance, his team, absent many of the usual starting lineup, gave the ball away carelessly so often that it was rather shocking that England didn’t capitalize.
In his farewell performance, Lucas Podalski, who wasn’t at all shy about unleashing shots from wherever he got the ball, finally put Germany’s first shot on target in the back of the net in stunning fashion in the 69th minute as he scored a left-footed golazo from 25+ yards out.
Aside from Germany looking careless, nothing much to report. Kroos completed a solid match and didn’t pick up an injury = good news for Madridistas.
