Zinedine Zidane took questions in the Bernabéu media room on his side’s 1-1 draw with Atlético Madrid.
On the Match
It's a tough game to read. We put in a great performance but with five minutes to go we lacked that bit of concentration. You couldn't say that Atlético put in a great performance, we certainly did but we had to get that second goal, which would have given us that peace of mind. We were then made to suffer and we didn't defend too well on one move and they're capable of making things tough for you.
A second goal would have put us at ease. We had the chances to have got it. In the final minutes, we lacked that little bit extra in all areas. We have to be relaxed and think about Wednesday's game and go out and try to win it, as we always do.
On the La Liga Title Race
We got a draw today, but I think that it's a case of two points dropped. With the performance that we put in, we could have picked up all three points. The other day the score against Alavés flattered us a bit, but today we deserved to have got more. This is the way things go in football, we drew the game but this changes nothing. The fight for the La Liga title will go right to the wire.
On His Substitutions
When the result is a negative one, you could look at the substitutions that were made. The Pepe one was enforced because he was in pain. I put Isco on to give us more protection down the left and in an attempt to see us have more of the ball. Then, with not long to go, they went and equalized. We should have been more compact in defense but we weren't.
We have to look at their goal. It is not that we didn’t defend, but we didn’t do it well enough. Our positioning was poor. I will have to look at it in detail. We are a bit disappointed today. I am not letting it get me down, I never do that, no matter what happens. I am disappointed but will keep on smiling.
On His Own Future
You'd have to ask those above me about that. I train every day, with dedication, strength and excitement. I work hard with the thrill that this shirt and club inspires. I am not going to speculate, I take each day as it comes.
On Real Madrid’s Fitness
I don’t think we were short fitness-wise, perhaps it was more down to concentration and the ability to defend as a unit with more energy. We can’t blame it on our fitness, I think we are in good shape.
On Antoine Griezmann
He is a good player, he scores goals and he did so today. We didn’t manage the end of the game well, it wasn’t down to one player. We let ourselves down in that move and didn't concentrate well or position ourselves well enough.
