Benzema, Isco thwart Atletico Madrid comeback attempt with eventful goal

Wow. What a sequence of events...

Real Madrid fans around the world were very worried after the explosive two goals in the first 16 minutes start Atletico Madrid had in the UEFA Champions League semifinal second leg to cut the aggregate score to 3-2. However, just before halftime and Los Blancos have scored a devastating goal to thwart the home side’s dramatic comeback attempt for now.

A huge away goal by Isco has extended the aggregate score to 4-2 with the away goal advantage. While Isco was the one who bungled the ball over the line in the end, it was Karim Benzema who created it from nothing with a magical bit of dribbling on the sidelines to elude nearly three defenders to center to Toni Kroos. His shot was saved fantastically by Jan Oblak, but the rebound fell to Isco for the easy tap-in. Atleti now need three goals to overcome the deficit and the goal also rules out extra time.
