Real Madrid midfielder Marcos Llorente —who is on loan with Alaves— all but confirmed Theo Hernandez's signing for Real Madrid.
"I am sure that he will be very happy in Real Madrid and that he will succeed there," said the midfielder when asked about Theo's move to Los Blancos.
Madrid will pay Theo's €24 million release clause and Marcelo will have a true backup next season. Hernandez is still 19 years old and has completed some impressive performances for Alaves this season, just like Marcos Llorente, who will almost surely return to the first team this summer as well.
It will be interesting to see Theo's role with Real Madrid next season as Marcelo is currently an undisputed starter for Zinedine Zidane. Having a true backup could pay huge dividends as Marcelo would be fresher all season long, but Theo could potentially earn a starting spot in a few years.
