Post-Match Player Reactions: Celta de Vigo 1 - 4 Real Madrid

The players were feeling especially talkative after the Celta match, and with good reason too! Real Madrid finished destroying the penultimate hurdle in the final stages of their charge to the La Liga title. Below we’ll see what Cristiano, Marcelo, Zidane and Danilo had to say after the match.

Bueno, fue un buen partido, bueno, falta un partido. Sabemos que tenemos que ir hasta el final, el equipo ha estado muy bien, cómo ha demostrado hoy, jugamos bien confiados y falta un partido. Sabemos que el Málaga en casa es fuerte, pero tenemos que pensar en nosotros e ir ahí y ganar.

¿Cristiano sirve un solo punto en ese partido contra el Málaga, os equivocarías pensando que con el empate vale?

No. Vamos a ganar. El objetivo del equipo es siempre ganar. Sabemos que el Málaga es un gran equipo, pero somos Real Madrid. Tenemos que demostrarles que somos mejores y que queremos ser campeones.

Cristiano llegas tremendo en una buena racha en ésta recta final, ¿qué mérito tiene Zidane en esta racha tuya al final por el descanso y los descansos que has tenido?

Bueno lo que se gana siempre en el final. Como he dicho antes en un par de entrevistas, he hecho una sesión muy buena este año con la ayuda del Míster y de mis compañeros también. Tenemos una plantilla muy buena, grandes jugadores jóvenes, jugadores con más experiencia, y me ha guardado un poco más este año para salir en la parte final cómo has dicho. Querer estar bien porque se necesita todo en las últimas jornadas y lo que estoy haciendo está bien. Estoy ayudando al equipo con goles y obviamente estoy muy contento.

Cristiano os falta un punto para ganar la liga y están en la final de Champions ¿es lícito que el aficionado piense en el doblete?

Bueno pensar únicamente y exclusivamente en el domingo. Tenemos que ganar para ser campeones. Después en la Champions tenemos tiempo. Tenemos 15 días después para prepararlo bien. Pero ahora mismo preparar, pensar en el domingo.

Terminó. La última. Porque has tenido dos goles muy buenos y haz fallado una ocasión qué, rara, le das vueltas a las ocasiones que has tenido-

Lo más difícil, lo he hecho, que era marcar, abrir el marcador, y hacer el segundo. Mejor ser parte el que trata hacerlo, obviamente que no es un habito fallar así, pero puede pasar. Soy humano y puedo fallar también.

Is this victory half of the league title?

It was a great match, well, we have one match left. We know that we have to go to the final, the team has done very well, like we’ve demonstrated today. We played with confidence and there’s still one match left. We know that Málaga at home is very strong, but we have to go there and win.

Cristiano, a single point in this match is enough, would it be a mistake thinking that a draw is enough?

No. We’re going to win. The objective of the team is always to win. We know that Málaga is a grand team, but we’re Real Madrid. We have to show them that we are better and that we want to be champions.

Cristiano, you’re coming in a hot streak in this final stretch. What merit does Zidane have in this streak of yours at the end, due to the rest that he’s given you?

Well, what we win is always at the end. Like I’ve said before in a couple interviews, I’ve done a good session this year with the help of the Mister and of my friends as well. We have a very good squad, great young players, players with more experience, and he has reserved me a bit more this year so that I can come out in this final stretch like you’ve said. Wanting to stay well because you need everything you got in the final match days and what I’m doing is well. I’m helping the team with goals and obviously I’m very happy.

Cristiano, you’re one point away from winning La Liga and you’re in the final of the Champions Leagues. Is it okay that fans could be thinking of the double?

Well, to think solely and exclusively this Sunday. We have to win to be champions. Afterwards we have time for Champions. We have 15 days afterwards to prepare it well. But right now, prepare and think about Sunday.

I’ll finish with this. Why have you scored two great goals and have failed one occasion which, weirdly, is much easier than the chances you’ve had-

The most difficult thing I've done, which was to open the scoring and score the second. Better to be one that tries, obviously it's not a habit of mine to fail this way, but it can happen. I am human and I can fail too.

Oh Ronnie, even with such a miss, you keep on proving you’re much more than just a mere mortal like us!

Bueno, buenas noches. Yo creo que el partido, porque era un partido muy importante, clave para conseguir el título y bueno yo creo que hay que estar muy contentos por el trabajo hecho durante los 90 minutos donde de principio a fin, pues, fuimos justos como vencedores.

¿Cómo vivías tú el partido hasta que te tocó entrar en el terreno de juego? Te hemos visto súper activo, ser el primero en abrazar a Benzema en ese tercer gol del Madrid. ¿Cómo se vive en esos momentos en un partido que estaba tan igualado?

Bueno, yo creo que desde el banquillo se pasa peor que en el campo y está claro que el equipo salió muy bien al principio, muy intenso ese gol de Cris. Eso nos dio confianza y al final pues al golear ya se va sufriendo menos.

En un tramo tan importante de la temporada como éste, lleváis 8 victorias seguidas fuera de casa. ¿Qué tiene el equipo para hacer lo mismo en el Bernabéu que lejos de él?

Bueno yo creo que eso es un dato muy importante para conseguir el título de liga. Estamos en una muy buena línea, ahora tenemos el último partido fuera de casa que vamos a por los 3 puntos y a ganar.

Sigues sumando partidos, sigues sumando minutos. 50 partidos llevas ya esta temporada. El jugador que más partidos lleva en la plantilla ahora de Zinedine Zidane. ¿Qué tiene Lucas Vázquez? ¿Qué le da a este equipo?

Pues bueno yo estoy muy agradecido con el Míster por todas las oportunidades que me da y ¡espero poder seguir aportando durante mucho tiempo al equipo!

Ya por último Lucas, para la Liga, una final, un partido. ¿Cómo se afronta este reto, preparados?

Por supuesto. Yo creo que es algo que hemos estado esperando desde el principio de la temporada. Conseguir el título y que esté en nuestras manos dependiente de nosotros. Y vamos a ir con mucha ilusión con muchas ganas para conseguir el título.

Lucas, Congratulations on the victory! What analysis does the dressing room have about today’s victory?

Well, it was a good night. I think that this match, because it was an important match, is key to getting the title and well, I think that we have to be very happy for the work done during these 90 minutes in which we were the just victors from beginning to end.

How did you live the match until you had to jump onto the pitch? We’ve seen you very active, being the first person to hug Benzema in that third Madrid goal. How do you live these moments of the match that were so tight?

Well, I think that from the bench, you have it worse than when on the pitch. And it’s clear that the team came out well at the start, very intense. That goal from Cris gave us much confidence and in the end, thrashing them you suffer a bit less.

In a stretch of the season that is so important, you have 8 victories in a row away from home. What does the team have to do to be able to do the same thing in the Bernabéu as it does away from it?

I think that it is an important fact to obtain the league title. We’re on a good streak, now we have the last game away from home and we’re going for the three points and to win.

You keep playing more games, getting more minutes. 50 matches you have already in this season. The player that has the greatest number of matches in this squad of Zinedine Zidane. What does Lucas Vazquez have? What does he bring to this team?

Well, I’m very thankful with the Mister for all the opportunities that he’s given me and I hope to keep helping the club for many years to come!

Lastly, for La Liga, one final, one match. How are you facing this challenge? Are you ready?

Of course. I think it’s something that we’ve been waiting since the start of the season. To obtain the title and that it is all in our hands depending on us only. We’re going to go with much hope and with all the desire to obtain the title.

En lo primero, Felicidades 1 a 4 en un campo difícil. ¿Qué análisis hace usted del partido de hoy?

Bueno como tú decías es un campo difícil ellos hicieron un buen partido, pero nosotros hemos jugado con una actitud increíble desde el principio, y con personalidad. Yo creo que al final era importante sumar hoy, porque hoy podía sumar sólo el Celta y nosotros. Y era importante sumar los tres puntos. Lo conseguimos y ahora lo que hay que hacer es descansar bien porque también físicamente, creo que hemos dado muchísimo. Jugamos ya domingo, entonces recuperar bien, pensar en el domingo, e intentar hacer lo mismo. Ir ahí para intentar ganar el partido.

Míster, ¿Qué importancia a tenido marcar pronto en la primera mitad y marcar pronto también en la segunda y marcar el tercero prácticamente al minuto de recibir un gol en contra?

Si. Era importante entrar muy bien al partido. Yo creo que lo que hicimos, marcamos. Luego hemos tenido un poco.. 20 minutos un poco… así después del gol. Pero la segunda parte creo que manejamos un poco mejor el partido porque la primera parte fue ida y vuelta, ida y vuelta, y para nosotros, no es nuestro juego ida y vuelta. Nosotros contra atacamos bien, pero lo que hacemos si muy bien, es manejar el partido. Manejar y tocar y tener un poco de pausa con el balón y es lo que hicimos en la segunda parte.

Míster, y ya por último, en el tramo tan importante de la temporada ¿Cómo se consigue 8 victorias consecutivas fuera de casa?

¿Cómo se consigue? Trabajando. Trabajando fuerte, trabajando con seriedad, trabajando con personalidad. Y yo creo que sólo eso te puede llevar a ganar. Sólo el trabajo. Hoy hay que felicitar a los jugadores por lo que han hecho, por lo que están haciendo ya 9 meses, es espectacular y hoy también.

First of all, Congratulations! 1-4 in a difficult ground. What analysis can you make of today’s match?

Well like you’ve said, it’s a difficult stadium and they had a great match, but we played with an incredible attitude from the start and with personality. Now we have to rest well because physically we’ve given a lot.

We counter-attack well, but what we do really well is controlling matches. Controlling and keeping a bit more calm on the ball and that’s what we did in the second half.

Mister, and this is the last thing, in the most important part of the season, how do you manage to get eight consecutive away wins?

How is it achieved? Working. Working very hard, Working with intent, working with personality. I think that only that can take you to victory. Only work. Today we have to congratulate the players and what they’ve done, because they’ve been doing this for nine months, it’s spectacular and today as well.

El Celta tenía muchas ganas de ganar el partido, pero nosotros hemos sabido controlar el partido hemos sido muy superiores y al final hemos ganado con resultado amplio que era nuestro objetivo. ¿Te sorprenden esas ganas con las que ha salido el Celta?

No. No nos ha sorprendido. Todos los que juegan contra el Madrid dan todo para ganar. Eso no ha sido diferente. Así es el fútbol. Todavía no ganamos nada.

¿Habéis ganado media Liga hoy?

No existe eso de media Liga. Vamos a descansar ahora y ya pensaremos en el próximo partido.

El Celta se quejó mucho del árbitro.

¿Me preguntas o me dices?

No, te pregunto.

No sé no hablé con nadie del Celta.

Bueno, ¿cómo la has visto al árbitro?

A bueno. Yo hace mucho que no hablo de los árbitros.

Cristiano con dos goles, este tramo del final es de lo mejor que ha hecho con el Madrid.

Bueno si me pongo hablar de Cristiano, ¡voy a estar aquí hasta mañana! Pues nada es un jugador que todos sabemos cómo es. Estará muy contento por los goles, pero seguramente más contento por el resultado.

Marcelo, ¿Qué importancia ha sido la respuesta del gol del Celta?

Sí, eso es tener un poco de paciencia. Saber leer el partido, hemos encajado un gol pero no hemos estado intranquilos. Hemos sabido responder y hemos metido otro gol.

No hay nada ganado todavía. Un empate en Málaga y ha dicho cristiano que van a ir por ganar. ¿Este es el sentido en todo el vestuario?

Sí, seguro. Como hemos dicho, hemos venido hoy para ganar. Y ahora descansar. Y después pensar en el próximo partido para ir otra vez a muerte, a ganar.

El Málaga estos días se los van a presionar mucho.

Yo creo que van a jugar para ganar el partido, pero nosotros sabemos que tenemos que dar todo para para ser campeones.

Este nuevo Cristiano que final tan fresco-

¿Nuevo Cristiano?

Este Cristiano que viene más fresco, que en otras temporadas. ¿Vez algo distinto en esta temporada?

No ¡yo lo veo como siempre! Muy bien como en otras temporadas. Lleva 11 temporadas seguidas en el mejor equipo del mundo (mejor XI de la fifa) y eso es lo que hay. No sólo esta temporada que viene el fresco, llega siempre. Nosotros trabajamos muchísimo para llegar a la final de la temporada bien como estamos ahora. Pero sabemos que no hemos ganado nada. Tenemos un partido más, y vamos a salir a ganar.

Marcelo ¿qué pasa en esa jugada final con Sergio Ramos? Te has tenido que ir a frenar.

Pues nada. Había visto que había un cambio de palabras, pero nada cosas del fútbol. Yo intenté calmar los ánimos porque he aprendido muchísimo en el fútbol y hay que intentar separar las peleas.

Are you surprised about the desire with which Celta came out to play?

No, it didn’t surprise us. Everyone who plays against Madrid give their all to win. That hasn’t been different. That’s football. We still haven’t won anything.

Have you won half of La Liga title today?

Half La Liga title doesn’t exist. We’re going to rest now and we’ll think about the next match.

Celta was whining a lot about the referee.

Well, how have you seen the ref?

Ah, well. It’s been a long time that I don’t speak about the refs.

No. I see him like always! Very great as in the other seasons. He has already 11 seasons in a row in the best team in the world (FIFA Best XI squad) and that’s all that there is. He’s fresh not just this season, but every season. We work very hard to reach the end of the season well like we are now. But we know we haven’t won anything. We have one more match, and we will go to win it.

Marcelo, what happens there in the final play with Sergio Ramos? You had to go to put a brake on it.

Well it’s nothing. I saw that there was an exchange of words, but just football things. I tried to calm the spirits because I’ve learned so much from football and you need to attempt to separate fights.

Claro eso es muy importante, hemos dado una respuesta pronto siempre. Claro eso es lo que estamos haciendo siempre, especialmente los partidos fuertes. Y creo que nos está ayudando mucho.

Cuando habéis marcado el tercero, ¿cuál ha sido el mensaje entre vosotros? Tranquilidad, tener el balón, ¿qué es lo que vos decías?

Tenemos jugadores muy experimentados y claro cuando pasa esto sabemos lo que tenemos que hacer. Que es tener el balón, tranquilizar el partido, y es lo que hemos hecho.

En un tramo tan importante como éste, cuando juegas partido tras partido de finales, ¿Cómo se consiguen 8 victorias seguidas fuera de casa?

Bueno teniendo una plantilla muy fuerte. Como tener jugadores en que les gusta trabajar, que siempre piensan en ganar. Y bueno, ese es el Real Madrid.

Y por último, un partido, una final más de Liga. ¿Preparados?

Bueno, si tenemos que descansar ahora al máximo. Tratar de recuperar fuerzas y claro para el próximo partido empezar fuerte. Como siempre. Ir por los tres puntos, que es lo que nos interesa para ganar.

After scoring the third, what was the message in between the squad? Calmness, having the ball, what were you thinking?

We have very experienced players and of course, when this happens we know what to do. That is to have the ball, to keep calm and that is what we have done.

In a stretch of the league so important as this one, when you play game after game of finals, how do you manage to get eight wins away from home?

Well by having a very strong squad. By having players that like to work, that always think about winning. This is Real Madrid.
