Cuneyt Çakir will referee the match between Atlético and Real Madrid in the second leg of the Champions League (Wednesday, 8:45pm CEST). It will be the seventh time that the Turkish official has refereed the Whites in this competition.
The Turkish referee has already overseen the European champions this season in the second leg at the Round of 16 stage in Napoli (1-3). Last season he covered Malmö-Real Madrid (0-2) in the Group Stage and the first leg of the semi-finals between Manchester City and Real Madrid (0-0). He also led the Whites in the Group Stage of the Champions League in 2012-13 against Dortmund at the Bernabéu (2-2) and in the Round of 16 second leg away against Manchester United (1-2). In 2011-12, he refereed the Group Stage game between Real Madrid and Lyon (4-0).
Real Madrid have a valuable 3-0 lead on aggregate after Cristiano Ronaldo's hat-trick on the first leg.
