It looks like midfielder Isco Alarcon will stay with Real Madrid next season. His current contract expires in 2018 but he said after Spain's 2-1 win against Macedonia that he could be signing a new contract soon enough.
"I've been saying that for a while, I'm very happy with Real Madrid and I hope to stay there for many years. Right now I have on year left in my contract but we're close to signing an extension," said the midfielder.
Isco was a crucial player for Zinedine Zidane during the successful 2016-17 campaign in which Real Madrid conquered a historic La Liga-Champions League double. He became an undisputed starter right after Gareth Bale injured his ankle and will almost surely compete for a spot in Zidane's starting XI with the Welshman next season. Isco wanted a bigger role with Madrid and that's precisely what he got this season, so he will sign a new contract soon.
