According to MARCA, Marco Asensio has decided to sign a contract extension with Real Madrid that will last till 2023. In order to secure him further, Florentino has reportedly attached a €350 Million release clause to the deal, effectively making impossible to buy unless Real wants to sell or Asensio desperately wants to leave. This is apparently the second time this year Asensio has been offered an improved contract and the decision is expected to be finalized shortly.
This is clearly a deserved deal for the Spanish youngster who shone brightly in his first season at Los Blancos. Overcoming initial worries that he would receive minimal minutes, Asensio capitalized on his teammates’ injuries and proved to Zidane that he was ready to play an important role in this team’s success.
From a debut goal in the European Super Cup final, to a magnificent solo strike in the Copa del Rey, to a killing blow vs. Bayern Munich in the Champions League, Marco has proved that he’s ready for the big stage and that he is the future.
