Ronaldo has been told to appear in court to face allegations that he defrauded the Spanish government of €14 million in taxes. This will take place in Madrid on July 31st, well after the Confederations Cup is finished. A judge will hear the case of the accuser and the defendant in a closed court and decide if any further charges should be brought on Ronaldo. It is important to note that while Cristiano has been asked to appear in court, no formal charges have actually been filed - he is currently being deemed an “investigated person.”
Ronaldo is reportedly unhappy with the way he has been treated in regards to this tax fraud case, sparking a flurry of rumors that he is leaving Madrid for Manchester or PSG. This is despite the fact that CR7 and his agent haven’t spoken a word about the issue. Nevertheless, Florentino Perez felt it necessary to recently conduct an interview in which he defended Ronaldo’s integrity and asserted that his star man was still a Madrid player. This should calm the unease of the fans just a touch, but don’t hold your breath waiting for the rumors to stop.
